While delivering this pleasant news, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’s main cast was in attendance to talk about the highlight of the first season.
Season 1 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End follows the quiet aftermath of an epic adventure where the demon king has already been defeated. The Hero party has fulfilled its mission and now is free to do as they please.
One of them is our Elf mage Frieren, who outlives her heroic party by centuries and sets out on a new journey to understand humanity and, well, feelings. Along the way, she mentors a sarcastic and gloomy apprentice, meets old friends (and a few undead enemies), and slowly peels back her emotional layers like a shy onion.
So speaking about the 2nd season, you have more than six months to recap the season one story, only if you are living under a rock. If you don’t know, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is the first anime that has not only secured the very top spot in MAL Ratings but also remained consistent in this position to this very date.
While the time this news is serving, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has secured 20 nominations in 2025’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards, competing with fans’ favorite shows like Solo Leveling.
After the marvelous success of its first season, fans were skeptical about why there is no official date for season 2 when the first season has only covered 60 chapters throughout 28 episodes, while the official manga is still continuing.
Fans do realize that pulling off a masterpiece like Frieren is no joke for any studio, and to match the previous season’s quality, even Madhouse Studios would require at least a 2-3 year gap.
With the absence of an official date for anime renewal for more than a year, fans have forced themselves to shift to manga to cover up the remaining story. However, with this official confirmation date for season 2, fans can rest at ease.
What We Can Expect from Frieren Season 2
Maybe it’ll be the first time in history that an anime will be competing for the top spot in MAL for its previous season. Being a manga reader, if Madhouse can bring their animation charm once again, it could really happen.
According to the speculations, season 2 will probably kick off from chapter 61, where Fern and some other mages have successfully passed the first class mage test exam and are now headed towards the North.
Currently, Frieren has released almost 140 chapters, and assuming that Madhouse also unveils the upcoming season with a 28-episode chunk, we can expect the story to cover 60 more chapters from the manga.
So, if you want to relive the soothing art style animation by Madhouse Studios, you’d better wait for what’s upcoming.
