Hordes of admirers are eager to see Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo’s happy ending. Are you among them? Well, your prayers have been answered, as My Dress Up Darling season 2 is in production and will hit screens this year.
Every year, anime fans witness more than 40 rom-coms, yet a handful of shows successfully leave a lasting impression on audiences. My dress-up darling is one of them. There could be several reasons behind the skyrocketing success of this show. Still, the most prominent are its thought-provoking plot, binge-worthy art style, and a lovely cast featuring hot gal Marin Kitagawa and introverted MC Wakana Gojo.
Even though the show replicates usual tropes like a popular gal falling for an unpopular MC, it still manages to hook the audience with a wholesome plotline and plenty of fan service.
My Dress Up Darling Season 2 Release Date
While trying to deliver a wholesome ending where Gojo falls asleep before hearing Marin Kitagawa’s magical words, fans were a little disappointed and joyful at the same time while watching this confusing ending. Maybe this was the spark that pushed the fandom to long for another season.
Aniplex dropped the anime’s trailer in September 2022, confirming its second season. Over 2 years have passed since then, and we finally got a 2025 release window for the sequel. The news came on December 20, 2024, with a teaser visual shared via the official My Dress-Up Darling X account.
Although it’s entirely speculative, we can expect to see the season late this year since its animation studio, “Clover Works,” is kinda busy with some other renowned projects like “Spy X Family” and “The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity.”

Expectations Regarding Season 2
As the previous season ended on a kind of cliffhanger, this time fans are more concerned about the storyline progression. Even though the short trailer by Aniplex was not very revealing, we still witness Marin blushing multiple times, which hints at the progression of their lovey-dovey relationship.
We already know that alluring and detailed character design was the strong point of this show, and it makes sense why Clover Works is taking this long to meet expectations regarding its art style and animations.
As a whole, we can hope for its wholesome conclusion at the end of season two, where the lovebirds will become one without dropping another cliffhanger.

Reason Behind The Hype of Season Two
Anime weebs can literally tell how often we get a proper binge-worthy rom-com targeting versatile audiences. In very rare cases, a show manages to engage the audience with an average-paced storyline. However, when it comes to the ecchi genre, most anime shows stink at presenting a thought-provoking plot while trying to maximize the cliche.
These are both major aspects where My Dress Up Darling grips tightly while delivering a more realistic plot blended with acceptable fan service.
Therefore, it’s not surprising that many hardcore fans consider My Dress Up Darling the crown show of the Ecchi genre. So whether you crave wholesome romantic comedy, explicit fan service, typical shonen practices, or an average-paced storyline, you can always consider this show as a universal solution.
