It was officially announced last month that the critically acclaimed manga series Dandadan will be adapted into an anime. During Jump Festa 2024, a new teaser video and the main voice cast for this upcoming anime were revealed.
Dandadan manga is written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, who worked as an assistant on “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku.” The manga was first serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in April 2021. As of December 2023, the series had published 11 volumes and sold over 3.2 million copies.

Dandadan Anime Adaptation Release date
Although an exact premiere date has not been officially announced yet, the latest teaser for Dandadan confirmed that the anime will air in October 2024.
Here are the main cast members of the Dandadan anime:
- Natsuki Hanae, known for her role as Tanjiro in “Demon Slayer,” will be voicing Okarun.
- Shion Wakayama, who voiced Mie in “The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses,” will be playing Momo Ayase.
- Mayumi Tanaka, a legendary voice actor renowned for voicing Luffy in “One Piece,” will portray Turbo Granny.
- Kazuya Nakai, best known for his voice acting as Toshiro Hijikata in “Gintama,” will play Alien Serpo.
The anime adaptation of Dandadan is being produced by the acclaimed animation studio Science SARU, known for popular shows such as “The Heike Story,” “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!” and the recently released “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.”

The Plot of Dandadan
The story of Dandadan follows two high school classmates named Momo Ayase and Okarun Ken, who have opposing beliefs about the supernatural. Momo is a firm believer in ghosts, but she doesn’t believe in aliens. On the other hand, Okarun believes in aliens but denies the existence of ghosts. To settle their argument, they decide to visit infamous sites related to the paranormal and occult – Okarun visits a haunted tunnel, while Momo goes to a UFO hotspot. When they reach these locations, both Momo and Okarun find out that ghosts and aliens actually exist in their world.
