Soujiro’s epic fantasy adventure is set to continue, as Ishura has been officially confirmed for a second season. The announcement was made on March 20th, shortly following the 12th episode’s airing, along with a teaser video and visual featuring “Kuro the Cautious,” who will play a significant role in the next season’s storyline. However, the release date and other specifics are currently under wraps.
The anime Ishura is an adaptation of a light novel written by Keiso. The series was first serialized in June 2017 as an online web novel on the Kakuyomu and Shōsetsuka ni Narō platforms. In September 2019, ASCII Media Works began publishing it as a light novel under their Dengeki no ShinBungei label, with illustrations by the artist Kureta.

Ishura‘s first season adapted the events of the first light novel volume titled “The New Demon King War.” With 9 volumes of the light novel series currently published, there is still a wealth of source material remaining to be animated.
If season 2 maintains a similar pace of adaptation, it is expected to cover the second volume, “The Particle Storm in the Realm of Slaughter.” The sequel will likely introduce new overpowered shura characters, like “Mestelexil the Box of Desperate Knowledge” and “Toroa the Awful” as the war rages on to determine who is the “true hero.”
If you haven’t watched Ishura yet, it’s available internationally on Disney+ as well as on Hulu in the United States.
